Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and vocalist since the mid 1990s. One of her first Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She received the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her career working with famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford's next venture will be an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as the central figure in the nation's first impeachment proceedings in Over an Century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received the Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
