Adele Mara..............Born Adelaide Delgado in 1925 Spanish-American Adele Mara was a singer/dancer with Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra in Detroit by the age of 15. Cugat took this beautiful brunette beauty into New York in 1942, and in 1942, a Columbia talent agent took her on. In 1942, she appeared in a lively lead role in a series of boring B films, such as Vengeance of the West starring Tex Ritter. Her transformation came a couple of years later into a hot platinum blonde pin-up when she was signed to Republic Studios. They kept her busy in senorita roles, mostly opposite Roy Rogers as in Bells of Rosarita (both 1945) and Gene Autry as in Twilight on the Rio Grande. Blackmail, Web of Danger and Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne were also good selections. Angel in Exile and Sands of Iwo Jima were two of her most memorable characters. The latter starred Duke Wayne again. Her talent as an actor did not always get acclaim and her acting career began to fall during the 1950s. She made one last film appearance on The Big Circus with Victor Mature (1959). Adele subsequently moved into TV and appeared in a variety of guest appearances mostly in westerns. Then, Adele decided to start a family after her wedding with Roy Huggins. Huggins produced several popular television shows like 77 Sunset Strip (in 1958) and Maverick. Some of them, she would be a guest. Three sons came to them. Huggins died in 2002.
